Six Ways to Celebrate Beer This Saturday in ATX

So many beers, so little time–For the committed Austin beer drinker, this Saturday, October 17, presents some serious scheduling challenges.

With no less than six major beer events occurring simultaneously at bars and breweries all over the city, it’s time to contemplate, strategize and plan your optimal beer crawl.

Know what the craziest part of this onslaught of October beery goodness is? It’s occurring a week before Austin Beer Week even begins. So, ya know, time to limber up those livers.

Wright Bros Brew & Brew 2nd Anniversary

Time: 1pm to midnight
Details: Brew & Brew celebrates two years serving up beer and coffee in East Austin with a big bash featuring special tappings, Kerlin BBQ, 1L stein specials and a zombie Austin Beerworks 99 pack back from the grave for this celebration. Independence Brewing 11th Anniversary

Time: 1pm to 9pm
Details: The team at Independence celebrates 11 years of operations with a party featuring a special anniversary beer, pilot brews and cask tappings, as well as all the mainstays you’ve come to expect + live music and food vendors.

Black Star Co-op 5th Anniversary Party

Time: 2pm to 6pm
Details: Black Star Co-op is rewarding member-owners with complimentary pours of a special session IPA brewed just for this occasion. Beers available for purchase at this event for all attendees include….2014 Epsilon (Peated Scotch ale aged in bourbon barrels), 2014 Moebius (Russian Imperial Stout aged for 6 weeks in bourbon barrels), 2015 Rebellious Dockhand (Raspberry sour mashed porter), rye whiskey barrel aged Recalcitrant Dockhand and more. Zilker Brewing Six Month Anniversary Party (“The Sixer”)

Time: 2-6pm
Details: Zilker Brewing Company never exactly had a grand opening party, so they’re choosing to celebrate in style six months later with special firkin tappings, music, live screen printing, Coffee Milk Stout floats made with Lick Ice Cream and more. Austoberfest at Saengerrunde Hall

Time: 3pm to 11pm
Details: Celebrate Oktoberfest… Austin style at this event focused on Central Texas German heritage filled with beers, brats and live music.

North by Northwest 14th Annual Oktoberfest

Time: 11am to close
Details: A $2 charitable contribution at the door gets you in to this annual event featuring German food specials, local artisans, live Oompah music, special beer tappings, kids attractions, a dog costume contest, a bratwurst-eating contest (that one is for the humans), and more! Plus, this event is actually running October 17th and 18th, so if you’re already feeling overwhelmed with options Saturday, we recommend you check out the Sunday session.
