Life Aquatic Beer Feast to be featured as part of Alamo Drafthouse’s Off-Centered Film Festival

Let me tell you about my boat beer dinner.

The fine foodies at Alamo Drafthouse have caught, cleaned, and cooked up a beer feast fit for Poseidon to accompany a 35mm screening of Wes Anderson’s beloved Life Aquatic for this year’s YACHT ROCKIN-themed Off-Centered Film Festival. Touting no less than 8 distinct beers from Dogfish Head, including two cellar releases, patrons might be weary they will lose their sea-legs. But with a substantial 4 course dinner paired alongside the boozy offerings, including crab cakes and a Brazillian seafood stew called Moqueca, there will be more than enough nibbles to fill film-goers bellies. • Welcome Beer
  • 60 minute IPA
• Course One: “Fluorescent” Snapper
  • Gulf Red Snapper with Ancho-Sardine Romesco sauce with grilled endive
  • Paired with Indian Brown Ale
• Course Two: “Sugar” Crab Cakes
  • Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes with Red Pepper & Spinach on a carrot, sprint onion, & red cabbage slaw
  • Paired with 2013 Chateau Jiahu & 2013 Olde School Barleywine
• Course Three: Moqueca
  • Brazilian Seafood Stew with Gulf Shrimp, Squid, and Prince Edward Island Mussels in a tomato and coconut broth
  • Paired with Black and Blue & Burton Baton

• Course Four: Sea Salted Sweets
  • Sea Salt Shortbread and Black Salt Beer Caramels
  • Paired with Palo Santo Marron & Raison D’Extra

The show sets sail at 7:00 at the South Lamar Drafthouse location, and sadly, them tickets is gone (#sorryNotSorry) BUT there is still plenty going on this weekend for Off-Centered to whet your whistle! If you had your heart set on a Wes Anderson beer dinner and a movie, there is also an upcoming showing of Moonrise Kingdom April 29th to celebrate Texas Beer Week. The show comes complete with a 3 course dinner paired along-side beers from one of Austin’s beer sweethearts Hops & Grain!
