Alpine, TX’s Big Bend Brewing Co. has been named by at least one publication as the “most remote brewery in the United States,” making the brewery’s declarative slogan “Beer From Out Here” resonate all the stronger.
Helmed by Steve Anderson, former Brewer for Austin’s Live Oak Brewing Company, Big Bend was started in December of 2012 after Anderson made the move out to far West Texas.
Since its inception, Big Bend has experienced rapid growth, adding shiny new fermenters and bringing their beer to markets like El Paso, Midland and Odessa. This Summer, Austin will join that list. In anticipation, Anderson and the gang will provide Austinites with a sneak peek of a few of their beers with a party March 20 at Stay Gold on E. Cesar Chavez (details at the bottom of this post).
Coincidentally, Big Bend recently hosted its third annual Valentine’s Day celebration in the tiny town of Valentine, TX around 60 miles from Alpine. I had the chance to go out the festivities, as well as visit the brewery itself the following day. Check out the photos below for a look at the brewery and its gorgeous West Texas surroundings.
