Deschutes Brewery hosts The Abyss release festivities

The-AbyssDeschutes Brewery is christening the 8th annual release of The Abyss, a bourbon barrel aged Imperial Stout with rich notes of molasses, licorice, and vanilla, by hosting quiet the set of parties at their brewpubs in Bend, OR and Portland, OR today. From 11:00 AM until close, lucky Deschutes patrons can enjoy this year’s batch or go deeper into The Abyss with verticals from the past five years. That’s right. Five years of The Abyss.

Both brewpubs will also be featuring a special menu designed to pair with the dark, complex stout. We are talking things like a 21-day dry aged steak burger with The Abyss and cipollini onion chutney, a wild mushroom and herb tart served with a reduction of The Abyss, and peanut stout creme cake with The Abyss chocolate mousse.

For anyone now lost in their own abyss of jealousy and despair over missing the release parties, fear not. Limited quantities of the pitch black reserve will be distributed to each of the 23 states carrying Deschutes brews starting the week of November 18th.
