Welcome to Colorful Colorado

IMG_4211In case you haven’t been incessantly following our Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Vine posts over the last couple days, we wanted to go ahead and say a big hello from Colorado, where we’ve arrived early to check out some breweries in Boulder, Longmont and Fort Collins before heading to the Great American Beer Festival.

After a 13 hour drive from Austin (pretty good time if we do say so ourselves) we have visited Bru Handbuilt Ales, Upslope Brewing Company, Avery Brewing Company, Left Hand Brewing Company and Oskar Blues. But, in true Bitch Beer fashion, we’re not stopping there. As we type this, we’re packing up all our luggage (and beer) in Boulder and hitting the Road to Fort Collins to check out Odell, New Belgium, Funkwerks and a ton of great craft beer bars before we make our way down to Denver.

Below is a little photo gallery to give you a taste of all the fun we’ve been having. We’ll be posting updates throughout our trip, before releasing an onslaught of interviews, photos, etc. from the festival once we return to the Lonestar State with questionable memories, regretful livers and satiated palates.

But first, before we head out to Fort Collins, we wanted to share a few of our favorite memories from the last two days in Boulder/ Longmont.

Favorite beer: Avery Eremita VI

Best meal: Tomato, Mozzarella and Basil pizza at Bru.

Funniest moment: Almost having a head on collision with a pair of tumble weeds in West Texas.

Favorite beer: Bru’s Arium Dubbel

Best meal: Fried mac & cheese bites from Back Country Pizza

Funniest moment: Getting a lesson in scaring off spiders from a drunk chick in the Upslope Taproom. Fun Fact: Apparently you can ward off other spiders by hanging one of their fallen friends from a string?

Favorite beer: Tie between Avery Summer Day IPA and Bru’s Loch Wee Heavy Scotch Ale

Best meal: Hummus Plate at Avery

Funniest moment: Drunkenly stumping the tour guide at Left Hand asking if they’ve every picked a person up with their keg lifter. It was a no.

  1. I was born in Ft. Collins and was out there to visit my G’ma for her 90th bday celebration (and my 30th) last late Nov/Early Dec! Made it to a handful of breweries, including New Belgium! LOVE IT! I love it out there. We moved away when I was young because my dad’s work but we’ve been back to visit a few times. Glad you’re having fun, I will live vicariously through you! If you get a chance to head up into the mountains, check out Georgetown (it’s breathtaking and an amazing mountain town) and if you’re in Golden go to Golden City Brewery- very small place but tons of fun!

  2. Hey there! I really enjoy reading your blog! I visited Denver/Colorado Springs last summer and had a blast. I tried some of my favorite beers of all-time on that trip! What an awesome beer state! http://headoverbeers.wordpress.com/2013/03/12/colorado-beer-vacation/
