North by Northwest Celebrates 14th Anniversary
North by Northwest Restaurant & Brewery will be celebrating its 14th anniversary in the coming weeks with a pair of events designed to give patrons a healthy dose of beer, food and fun.
The first event, which will take place Wednesday, August 28 at 7pm, will be a special Brewers Dinner created by Executive Chef George Powell and Head Brewer Kevin Roark. The dinner will feature five courses, all paired with a tasty NXNW brew to complement the flavors.
Here’s a look at the menu:
First Course: Baby greens tossed with a grain mustard crème fraîche served with smoked trout, pickled onions and fried flatbread croutons paired with a Wit brew.
Second Course: Leek, Brussels sprouts and bacon soup paired with an Amber brew.
Third Course: Jalapeno cornbread stuffed quail with a smoked tomato gastrique paired with a Pale Ale.
Fourth Course: Veal Osso Buco with a three-cheese polenta and braised vegetables paired witha Red Zepplin Irish Red brew.
Fifth Course: Chocolate cake layered with chocolate mousse and ganache paired with a Black Jack Barrel Aged Black Ale.
Brewers Dinner tickets are $49 per person, which also includes a tour of the brewery, a NXNW logo pint glass and a NXNW key chain. Tickets can be reserved by calling (512) 467-6969.
The fun will continue into the weekend with a full-fledged Anniversary Party September 1. Beginning at 5:30pm, the event will feature live music from Guy Forsyth and Slow Train, specialty beers and a giant birthday cake. The kiddos are also welcome, as there will be a bounce house, balloon artist and a friendly fella named “Pinty the Bear” there to keep them company while parents throw back a few brews.
Here’s the beer lineup for the event:
- Cask of NXNW Anniversary Ale, a Belgian Tripel
- Bohemian Pilsner
- Red Zeppelin (Irish Red)
- Excalibur ESB
- Kodiak IPA
- Green Menace IPA
- Rye of the Valkyries (Rye IPA)
- Summer Ale
- Belgian Wit
- Pineapple Draft Ale
Though the event is open to the public, guests are encouraged to donate $2 at the door to benefit Pints for Prostates, a non-profit organization which aims to spread awareness about prostate cancer and provide assistance for men with the disease. NXNW has a strong relationship with the charity, as Brewmaster Don Thompson is a prostate cancer survivor, and owner Davis Tucker, along with other members of the craft beer community, will soon depart on a 1400 mile bike journey to Denver to benefit the charity and spread awareness about mens health. Their ride will be featured in the upcoming documentary “1400 Miles.”
