Charity Beer Fest Makes for Jammin’ Fourth of July Weekend

1010989_10152983539595035_1735169385_nLet’s face it, your Fourth of July weekend plans probably already included drinking abundant amounts of booze out in the summer sun, so why not do it for a good cause?

This Saturday, Kyle Hollingsworth of the band String Cheese Incident (who also happens to be an avid homebrewer) will host a charity beer festival at Cedar Street Courtyard here in Austin.

The event, dubbed Kyle’s Brew Fest, will benefit Conscious Alliance, a non-profit focused on feeding the hungry through charity music and sporting events.

The festival will be held from 1-5pm, prior to The String Cheese Incident concert at The Backyard, but beer fest attendees do not need to have concert tickets to attend.

The festival will feature beer from Austin Beerworks, Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits, Boulevard Brewing Company, Firestone Walker Brewing Co., Hops and Grain, Independence Brewing Co., Lagunitas Brewing Co, New Belgium Brewing, Sierra Nevada, Thirsty Planet Brewing Company and Oskar Blues.

Tickets are $30 and include (responsible) unlimited samples, a limited edition Kyle’s Brew Fest logo pint glass and a performance from Kyle Hollingsworth with Mountain Standard Time. There will also be a silent auction featuring rock memorabilia.

  1. Sounds like a great event and obviously a great cause. If I had any local Austin craft beers left over (the few I brought back are long gone) I’d pour one on Saturday.
