Texas Craft Brewers Festival presents best of Lone Star State brews

Thousands of beer-loving Texans poured out to Fiesta Gardens Saturday for the annual Texas Craft Brewers Festival. This year’s festival featured more than 115 different brews from 28 Texas craft breweries.

Austin mainstays like Jester King Craft Brewery, Thirsty Planet Brewing and (512) Brewing Company joined up-and-coming breweries from around the state including Wicked Beaver Brewing, Lakewood Brewing Company and Alamo Beer Company. It was a great opportunity to sample some really inventive small batch brews and beers you’d be lucky to find in Austin.

The crisp fall weather was a perfect compliment to the bevy of fall seasonals available at the festival from Saint Arnold Brewing Company Pumpkinator to Rogness Brewing Company‘s Rogtober Fest. Barrel-aged beers were another big trend with many brewers doing special cask tappings at various times throughout the day.  Highlights included Adelbert Brewery‘s Naked Nun fermented on Fredericksburg peaches and a cask of Jester King’s Commercial Suicide.

The Eastside Beer Sessions presented an opportunity for beer aficionados to participate in a more in depth tasting experience.  With talks from brewers and various food pairings including Antonelli’s Cheese Shop and Delysia Chocolatier, the sessions added an educational element beyond your typical mass sampling. All in all, it was another successful year for Texas Craft Brewers Festival, and it will be very exciting to see how this festival continues to grow and celebrate the Texas craft brewing industry.
