Cooking with Beer: Beer Bread!

Cooking with beer is something that I was aware of but had never done before so when we came up with the idea for Bitch Beer, I decided that this was the perfect thing to do for the blog. I started off with an easy recipe to share with you Bitch Beer readers!

What you’ll need:

2 cups whole wheat flour

1 cup all purpose flour

1 Tablespoon granulated sugar (I used natural cane sugar)

1 teaspoon salt

1 Tablespoon baking powder

14 ounces of beer (your choice but I used a Sierra Nevada Torpedo)



1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

2. Combine the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder in a mixing bowl.


3. Slowly stir the beer into the mix until everything is combined. The batter should be thick.

4. Spread into an 8-inch loaf pan and bake until golden brown and a toothpick can be poked into it and pulled away dry. Usually this takes about 45 minutes.


While you wait you can open another beer, sit back, and smell the beer bread baking (say that three times fast) until…



You’ve made a delicious loaf of beer bread! I made this loaf for a party and paired it with some goat cheese spreads to off-set the bitter taste of the bread. It was a big hit!
